屋企開始多Wi-Fi 6既device
係咪係時候要換AX router
Option 3:
Unpopular choices, Ubiquiti....
UDM Pro + U6 Lite * 2
Pros:
- Included Firewall?
- Can act as DVR for CCTV (useful in UK)
- Modular setup
Cons:
- Multiple negative feedbacks from this group
- $$
- Cloud controlled
not really considering license subscription AP
@licson use Aruba ho chi need self buy router?
Do not use UDM under ANY circumstances
6e need to wait client support?
Hmm are u not satisfied with ac speed?
Actually, in UK, national average internet speed is t67Mbps
Btw, 如果係外國,買個靚d既上網plan重要d
Unless u have 1G+ internet
but intranet still need a backbone
E,g.
Local ESXi Server...NAS...DVR...IoT...AppleTV/Chromecast they still need a fast connection
Yea but how heavy the load and the speed are required?
If you go for UBNT, the buy:
- UBNT AP
- RPi 4 (4GB or up) and SD Card
- Mikrotik hAP ac or hEX or hEX S
- Managed PoE switch, 48V or up each port
Failed to meet the least requirements above will fail to power up the UBNT APs
Also there will be extra settings needed before initialising the newly purchased AP at your local DHCP server and DNS server, see UBNT help article for "L3 adoption"
yes yes they will use up the LAN traffic ma
if 3 * HD or have chin, 3 * 4K DVR
1 frontdoor
1 backyard
1 garage
for example
this is why UDM/CloudKey was one of the option(even now not really considering)
Don't go with UBNT for anything other than AP
Buy some IP Cam for RTMP/RTSP, then build your own DVR
the painpoint is, UK has fiber implemented
the reason still national 67Mbps is
it is FTTC only
Nest cam:
- $$$
- need subscription too
You just simply can't afford it
Logitech Circle
- Apple HomeKit
- But will upload to iCloud(=use up bandwith)
- still $$$$
1Gbps FTTH in UK are like £1,200 pcm, installation fees not included
if we can do own last mile actually can
self build cabinet to home connection
if you are living in house
I don't think it will be cheaper comparing last mile or FTTH Fibre...?
