You didn’t even have basic security in elasticsearch before amazon made “open distro for elasticsearch”
They were not friends for a long time
This distro was released around March 2019
Then at May 2019 Elastic made “security for elasticsearch” free
I don’t think this would be the case if Amazon didn’t make the distro and offered similar features for free
Imagine the majority of es instances can be accessed without auth by default 😂

If they made those things AGPL it would have been less harmful
