Trainers,
We want to give you a sneak peek of a feature coming soon to Pokémon GO. We are adding a new feature which grants a catch bonus when you earn medals based on catching certain types of Pokémon (Kindler, Psychic, Gardener, etc.). These new bonuses will give you a better chance of capturing Pokémon with a related type. For example, as you reach a higher tier for the Kindler Medal, your bonus to catch Fire-type Pokémon such as Charmander, Vulpix and Ponyta increases.
Trainers can work their way to a new tier by catching many Pokémon of the same type. If a Pokémon has multiple types, your bonus will be the average of your bonuses for each type. For example, Pidgey is both Normal and Flying type. Your bonus in this case would be the average of your Normal-type and Flying-type bonuses.

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.41.2 for Android and 1.11.2 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.
- Catch Bonus: Trainers can earn a catch bonus for a Pokémon type as they catch more of a specific type.
- Updated Gym Training: Trainers can now bring six Pokémon to battle at friendly Gyms. The CP of the Pokémon you are battling may be temporarily adjusted lower for your training session.
- Egg & Incubator Screens: These will periodically update the distance walked without the Trainer needing to close and reopen the screen.
- Fixed several audio issues.
- Decreased the evolution animation time.
- Minor fixes

New Gym Prestige calculations already in place!!!
The scaling seems to be occurring when your trainer level as the Attacker is lower than the level of the Defender. Simply choosing a lower CP poke wont have an effect if your trainer level is above the defenders.
Was just training a friendly gym, battling a 1920 Slowbro with an 1800 Exeggutor and only receiving ~250 prestige per win. Then I used a 1600 Exeggutor and received the expected 500 prestiege per win. Seems the defending poke CP is already being adjusted in the prestige calcs.
The update is being rolled out and not a universal switch to the new calcs
Perharps will take 1 to 2 days to be roll out in Singapore
