今天 Google 台灣舉辦純線上記者會，正式發表數位點數系統「Google Play Points」，不只可以直接折抵購買 Google Play 上的 App、電影、圖書，甚至支援程式內購買或是遊戲內優待劵。台灣（以及香港）是繼日本、南韓、美國之後，第四個開通 Google Play Points 的市場。
Google 台灣總經理林雅芳表示，Android 今年正式步入 12 歲，全球使用Android 的裝置也高達 25 億台，光是去年一整年，Google Play 全球下載次數也到達 1160 億次。
由於台灣從 2016 年開始就一直是全球前五大市場，Google 也準備 Google Play 台灣開發專區、MIT 開發者網站、Start on Android 等三項計畫深耕台灣開發者社群。
不過要注意的是，Google Play Points 不得跨區累積、使用，而且也不能轉讓，一個 Google 帳戶只能綁一組 Google Play Points 點數。並且暫時也不會跟 Google 硬體或其他產品關聯；Google Play Points 的會籍會保留一年，但有升級、降級制度，如果一年內消費未滿額是會被降級的。
Google 台灣表示即日起陸續上線，預計本週所有台灣 Google Play 使用者都能開始積點。
